The Ngorongoro Conservation Area is a restricted area in Ngorongoro District in northern Tanzania and is situated 110 miles west of Arusha city. The site is named after Ngorongoro Crater, a giant volcanic caldera within the region.It is believed that it has formed about 2.5 million years back from a large active volcano cone that falls after a significant explosion.
The caldera ranges between 16 and 19 km over and has an area of 264 km (102 sq mile). It is a massively jungled area edged slides 2000 ft (610 meters) above the caldera’s ground to a height of 7500 ft (2,286 meters)
The caldera canvas is mainly an open plain, and it is home to various animals such as zebras, buffalos, leopards, elephants, wildebeests, warthogs and populations of lions. The regional Masai people also graze their animals in the crater.

Suitable time to visit the area in a dry period in June to October, because rainfall is short, so all roads are easy to travel, gives more advantage to view animals and number of animals who collected near the river to drink water. They give you a chance to click fantastic pictures of them.
