Overview

Lake Manyara National Park is a restricted area in Tanzania Arusha and the Manyara region between Lake Manyara and the Great Rift Valley. It is 50 km (30 miles) long and 16 km (10 miles) wide and has salt and rock phosphates. Lake Manyara National Park covers 320 square km (124 square miles) and contains five different habitats.

Lake Manyara is a deep alkaline lake and an excellent place for flamingos and pelicans. Mixed acacia woodlands, patches of evergreen jungle, and short savannah plains dominate the park.

Lake Manyara National Park is home to various animals and birds, including elephants, wildebeests, buffaloes, zebras, hippos, grant’s gazelle, warthogs, waterbucks, lions, leopards, cheetahs, and African gold cats.

Lake Manyara National Park is known to be a year-round safari destination. Which time suits the most depends upon birdwatching or game viewing. The best months to view the birds like pink flamingos and other migratory waterbirds will be in the wet season, i.e., November to December, March to May. These birds are not available during the remaining months. The dry months between June and October are ideal for viewing spot games. This season is driest, which makes them easily spotted in the normal jungle.
